Bio: Jennifer Tsukayama is currently the Founder and Artistic Director of tsukayama dance collaborative (tdc). tdc’s credits include a wide range of projects which integrate dance and technology to site specific works. CellBytes http://isa.asu.edu/cellbytes, a dual-site performance and web casting project, with artists from Europe and the United States, to explore the capabilities of simultaneous yet separate performance sites, utilizing high-speed video and data links. Each site was equipped with motion-sensing systems that enable the performers to control sound, video, and lighting throughout their performance. Paper Interiors, www.paperproject.org is a dance performance exploring the real and virtual dimensions, integrating the use of 3-D images created from a confocal microscope, projected into the performance space. tdc’s repertory can be found in companies from Mexico, Singapore, New York, Ohio, and Arizona. tdc performances venues include the John Jay Theater (NYC), Dance Theatre Workshop (NYC), Dixon Place (NYC), Joyce SoHo (NYC), and Scottsdale Center for the Arts (AZ).

Tsukayama is also the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the New York based company, Murkofsky/Tsukayama Dance Theatre (1996-2000). MTDT was selected to participate in numerous festivals and choreographic showings abroad and around NYC, including: Del Festival International de Puebla, the Downtown Arts Festival, Soundance Choreographers Showcase, and Symphony Space. MTDT's commissions and grants include: The Joyce SoHo, San Francisco Opera's Femme Fatale commercial, and Boston's First Night. Tsukayama was invited as a guest performer for such artists as Earl Moseley, Diversity of Dance IV, at Lincoln Center Square Theatre (NYC), Tim Hadles’, Family Matters, at Dance Theater Workshop (NYC), and Sabrina Peck at Wave Hill (NYC).

Tsukayama has toured and performed with multiple artists from across the United States and taught in schools and festivals both nationally and internationally. Tsukayama received her MFA in performance and choreography from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dance in the Herberger College of Fine Arts at Arizona State University and the Co-Artistic Director of the student repertory/outreach company, Dance Arizona Repertory Theatre (DART). The strong mission and contemporary structure of the company has enabled DART to receive support from such agencies as: Motorola, Dance/USA, Target, AZ Commission on the Arts, Tempe Commission on the Arts, and Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture.
