As a current assembly member of GPSA I have had the opportunity to work on the Professional Development committee. With the help of current V.P. John Lopez, I have helped plan several professional development activities that have been well attended including: the ergonomics training and several Blackboard training sessions.
During my Masters program at Northern Illinois University I held a similar position and ran several professional development programs for graduate students such as a resume workshop, several activities designed improve networking skills, and a program designed to give tips on how to give a successful job talk.
If I were elected to this position, I have several ideas to further the professional development of my fellow graduate students. I have connections with the CLAS Online Programming department and I plan to offer several workshops aimed at how to implement or improve on your online/hybrid course. I am also interested in Graduate Student health. I would like to run several programs aimed at decreasing stress and improving the overall health of Graduate and Professional students at ASU. Further, I plan on working closely with the Communication and Events Director, so that programs offered through GPSA will be widely marketed to allow for maximum attendance.
